MALENA MAZZA
AND TIME GOES BY …

March 29th - May 11th 2013

Techincal Info

The myth of aesthetic beauty tied to youth and the perfection of a body, as if facing the reality of life does not mean, mortality, imperfection and the inexorable passing of time: the human being and his ever-present desire to halt its ruthless and unrelenting flow.
The exhibition "and time goes by ..."  by Malena Mazza combines images of older men and women with  white-hair and wrinkled skin in a delicate, white, almost rarified atmosphere, with  those of young, perfect, polished, sensuous bodies moved by sensual energies and pulses

The myth of aesthetic beauty tied to youth and the perfection of a body, as if facing the reality of life does not mean, mortality, imperfection and the inexorable passing of time: the human being and his ever-present desire to halt its ruthless and unrelenting flow.

The exhibition "and time goes by ..."  by Malena Mazza combines images of older men and women with  white-hair and wrinkled skin in a delicate, white, almost rarified atmosphere, with  those of young, perfect, polished, sensuous bodies moved by sensual energies and pulses.  Once again, the strident but conventional, obvious concept and interpretation of the same problem? Perhaps, also because every day, in a fast-paced media world, where aging is almost not allowed, we endure but fight hard  through modern artificial beauty treatments, the transformation of our body.

But it is also nice to realize  that, through the intuition of the photographer, the intensity and power of her images, we can let our eyes, through the camera lens, rest by stopping to contemplate the skin, curves, force, the softness of youth and  the folds, wrinkles, fatigue and the spots of age.
A single physical transformation of the body and the structure of the emotional and rational thought in the course of life that defines each one of us.
This is the other key to the reading this exhibition: to explore and restore dignity to the life of our body, a life lived and kept in every corner, in every fold of our skin.
